Paramount tops Keeneland November Sale

Pope Goes to $3.9M for Aloof at Keeneland

Aloof, a 5-year-old Galileo mare in foal to War Front  , was purchased by Mandy Pope for $3.9 million Nov. 5, second day of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

Aloof, a black-type winner in Ireland who sold as Hip 246 was consigned by Paramount Sales, agent.

Pope said the mare will go to Timber Town. She intends to sell the War Front foal.

“We’ll probably breed her back to War Front; that would be the plan,” Pope said. “She’s a lovely Galileo mare out of an outstanding family, and she was a very good racehorse. She’s also in foal to War Front.

“We’re getting a little bit of the European flair going. We’re spreading our boundaries.”
